It's Summer Time, Sweet Summer Time

Well, I don't really have anything specific to talk about for the last couple of weeks! I'm just going to put up a few videos that I think the grandparents will enjoy and some pictures of the things we've been doing! Calvin is studying hard to finish strong in his summer classes. The last day of class is this Wednesday and finals begin next Monday and go through Friday. Then we will move into our new apartment! I am so excited to go get all of our stuff out of our storage unit and unpack! We've also ordered some new furniture, which I can't wait to get. So that's the update!

Here is Camden rolling around on the floor, I thought it was entertaining :)
This is Camden at my friend Nayoung's house. He loved the piano.

America The Beautiful

We had a great fourth of July weekend! Calvin had Friday off, so the festivities began on Thursday night with the Durham Bulls baseball game. First we went and got dinner at one of the best BBQ places around, The Q Shack. One of Calvin's professors put the night together, so Camden and I had fun meeting some of the other students in Calvin's class. They definitely loved Camden! All the girls had so much fun playing with Camden, he was the only boy getting any attention! The game was a lot of fun to watch and the fireworks show at the end was awesome!

On Saturday, we went to Falls Lake with some friends from our ward. We made sure to get there early so that we could get a picnic spot. We had a really great time! It was so much fun to spend some time with friends and get to know each other better. We spent time wading, canoeing, cooking, and just talking! I tried to fish a little bit, but I had no idea what I needed and didn't get any bites. Camden loved the water. He also ate a little bit of sand before he decided it really wasn't too tasty. The water was so warm and the scenery was beautiful!

Second Anniversary!

Calvin and I celebrated our second anniversary yesterday! I am so grateful for the most wonderful husband! He is so kind, loving, caring, and just all around amazing! Because our anniversary fell on a Tuesday, we didn't have a lot of time to celebrate, but we did have time to go out to dinner together. Some of our very nice friends watched Camden while we went to the Cheescake Factory. We both had the gigantic burritos and then had the most amazing brownie sundae ever. It was so good! Calvin surprised me with these flowers. I didn't even have to hint! They are the same as the flowers at our wedding and my favorite colors. What a great husband I have!

What Do You Think?

I decided to cut my hair short! I've never had a hair cut nearly this short. I've just been bored with my hair for a while and I asked Calvin what he thought about me cutting my hair short. I was surprised when he said, go for it! So I did!

We Love Grandma!

My mom, or grandma as she goes by now, came for a visit this week! We had so much fun just spending time together-playing with Camden and showing her around town a little. Camden loved having his grandma here and I loved having some company during the day. Calvin was nice to let us have some fun even while he had to go to school. I love her so much and I am sad she is already gone! We can't wait until she's back with my dad and Emily and Brooklyn in August. We miss all of our family and wish you could all be here!
This is the cute farm blanket my mom and I (mostly my mom) worked on while she was here.

Turtle and ducks at the Sarah P. Duke gardens-we had fun feeding them!

A little bit of walking! Yay!

Swimming in Dirt!

I love this video! Camden was having so much fun at the park! It had rained the night before, so things were wet and I was trying to avoid having a very dirty little boy, but when I saw how much he enjoyed it, I couldn't say no!

Things are going well here in North Carolina! We've had fun the last week spending time with some new friends and continuing to learn more about our new home. Over the weekend, we went swimming, had some friends over to watch a movie (one of my favorites, Shanghi Noon), picked strawberries, and went to a stake field day. Camden really enjoyed the swimming pool and seeing the other little kids there. We were supposed to start a parent-tot swimming class today, but they only had one other person sign up, so they cancelled the class. I was so disappointed! Registration begins for a class at another place this Saturday, so hopefully we can get into that class. You have to go line up early to get a spot! I guess it is a lot more popular than the one I signed up for.

Calvin continues to be busy with his 3-year career as a Duke Law student. He really enjoys the classes and the material and is working hard to be right there at the top of his class. He has read about a million cases so far and only has five and a half more weeks of class for the summer! Because they are completeing 9 credits in such a short time period, he has to work hard and fast! He is such a sweet husband. He goes to school from about 7:30-5:30 every day, then comes home and spends the evenings with Camden and me. I'm really grateful that he takes the time to spend with us too!

And for this week...my mom is here! I am so excited to spend the week with her! We picked her up at the airport late last night. She is here visiting while my little sisters are at Girls Camp and my dad is busy taking furniture and supplies up to the new cabin at the lodge.

We are really enjoying North Carolina and are excited to be here!

First Birthday and First Steps!

A first Birthday plus some first steps made for an exciting day! I can't believe it has been an entire year since we were in the hospital with our new baby boy. I had no idea how hard and how rewarding being a parent would be. We really love Camden.
For the Birthday, we had a party with some presents, some cake, and some ice cream. Camden absolutely loves ice cream, but he wasn't quite sure what to think of the huge slice of cake in front of him.

The day ended with Camden finally deciding to take some steps on his own. We had a lot of fun sending him back and forth between Mom and Dad taking more and more steps each time. What a great day!
