Valentine's Day Surprise

Last weekend, Calvin surprised me with an overnight trip to Myrtle Beach, SC! We picked him up from school around 1 on Friday and came home to make a plan for the rest of the day. I was just taking my time, getting a few things done around the house, when Calvin said he had to go back to school to turn in a paper. I told him I would come with him and then we could head out and do something, but he insisted that I stay home and get ready to go, and he would be right back.

When he came back, I told him I found out there was a circus in Greensboro, so maybe we could go to that. He said ok, let's get some coats in case it gets cold later, and he went upstairs to put a few things in a bag. He also said maybe we should bring Camden's pj's since we would be getting back late, and then we could just let him fall asleep on the way back.

So we got our things together and went out to the car (even though it was really early to get to the circus....) and out in the car were these roses along with a note that said, I love you...but no questions. So, we weren't going to the circus!

It was fun to just sit back and relax, have a nice ride in the car with Calvin and Camden. Four hours later, and we were in Myrtle Beach, SC. We pulled into the Marriott where we would be staying for the night (quite a splurge for Calvin!) and checked in, then went out to get some dinner. Surprisingly enough, we were there to witness something that hasn't happend in Myrtle Beach for 10 years (according to some locals) SNOW! We had a nice dinner at Olive Garden, then just relaxed at the hotel.

In the morning, we got up early and headed back to Durham so we could make it to the Duke game! We stopped and had breakfast at Cracker Barrel, which was very good. Everything looked so beautiful covered in snow as we were driving back.

For Valentine's Day, I got Calvin (and myself) matching shirts for the Duke game. We had a lot of fun cheering on the blue devils! The stadium (Cameron Indoor Stadium) is so small! It only seats about 9,000 people. The students in the student section are known as the Cameron Crazies, and they are CRAZY! It was really a great Valentine's Day. Thanks Calvin!
